- One of the most advanced electronic toll reporting systems in the world will be implemented in Bulgaria by ITS (Intelligent Traffic Systems AD)
The reporting technology is based on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) positioning. This is one of the most modern electronic toll reporting systems in the world that will be implemented in the country by ITS (Intelligent Traffic Systems AD).
In order to report the distance travelled, the vehicle to be billed must be equipped with an on-board unit. It must be approved for billing purposes, i.e. to meet certain requirements. The on-board unite shall transmit positioning, mileage data and vehicle type information. These will be processed, validated and invoiced to the end user.
The use of the paid road network by the toll-paying vehicles will be monitored in real time. This will be done through the installed on-board devices and by detecting the registration numbers by stationary and mobile cameras.
All data sent by the on-board device to the central data processing system is encrypted. Data confidentiality is guaranteed at all times.
